A Southeast Columbus neighborhood is rattled after the death of 63-year-old Thomasena Crowder was ruled a homicide following a stabbing.

Officers were called to Holburn Avenue on March 4 on a report of a sick person and found Crowder in need of medical help. She was taken to a hospital, where she died days later. The Franklin County Coroner's Office has since determined her death was a homicide, and Columbus police say investigators concluded she had been stabbed.

According to WSYX, police have not released any information about possible suspects. Neighbors told the station they are shaken by the killing and worried about what it means for daily life on their block. One neighbor, Jeffrey Cole, said, "Nobody knows really what happened," adding that people in the area are now afraid to go outside.

Investigators Seek Information

The Columbus Division of Police Homicide Unit is leading the investigation, which remains wide open. In a Columbus Division of Police media release, officials asked anyone with information to contact the Homicide Unit tipline at (614) 645-4730 or Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at (614) 461-TIPS (8477).

Detectives say they have no suspect information to share at this time and are continuing interviews and evidence collection. Investigators are also asking anyone who may have photos or video from the neighborhood on March 4 to reach out.

Crowder's death has left neighbors on edge, and residents say the block feels unsettled as investigators work the case. Police say they will release updates when there are substantive developments, while the community waits for answers about what unfolded on Holburn Avenue.
