A late-morning home invasion in Statesville ended in tragedy Saturday when officers found a 24-year-old man shot multiple times inside a residence on East Bell Street. First responders fought to save his life on the front end of the weekend, but he later died from his injuries. Police say the shooter has already been identified and insist there is no ongoing threat to neighbors in the area.

The department’s 2025 Annual Crime Report logged 146 violent crimes and three murders that year, and leaders say the Criminal Investigations Division continues to manage hundreds of active cases while also supporting proactive enforcement and community programs. Detectives say this shooting will be investigated alongside those ongoing priorities.
