After more than a decade tucked inside Uptown’s Market at 7th Street, Orrman’s Cheese Shop is trading its stall for a full-fledged storefront in Myers Park. The husband-and-wife team behind the counter is headed to Selwyn Avenue, where they plan to roll out an expanded retail case with more than 100 artisan cheeses and a cozy dine-in menu featuring grilled cheeses and raclette.
According to the Charlotte Observer, the new shop is set to hold its grand opening on Monday, May 4. Owners Rachel Klebaur and Jose Espinosa framed the move in an Instagram post as a fresh chapter rather than a farewell, writing that “this isn’t goodbye, just a new chapter.” The paper noted that the shift will formally close out Orrman’s long run at the Market at 7th Street in favor of the Selwyn Avenue space in Myers Park.
Orrman’s website lists the new address as 2901 Selwyn Ave and underscores that most of the cheeses are sourced from local and regional producers. The site describes a rotating case, along with catering and delivery options, and highlights boards, grilled sandwiches, soups and raclette as key parts of the expanded lineup.
From Food Hall To Neighborhood Shop
Speaking with Unpretentious Palate, Klebaur said the couple decided against operating two locations and instead focused on landing in a true neighborhood spot. The new Myers Park shop is expected to have roughly 25 seats plus a patio, a step up in size from the original stall that will let them stock special and seasonal cheeses more consistently than before.
What To Expect On The Menu
The Selwyn Avenue location will keep Orrman’s signature grilled cheeses and raclette nights while growing the retail selection to more than 100 varieties of artisan cheese, the Charlotte Observer reported. Guests will also find a larger spread of pantry items and charcuterie accompaniments, along with a modest wine program available for sipping on site or taking home.
Why Myers Park?
Klebaur told Unpretentious Palate that the search was focused on “a neighborhood area, not too big, not too small.” The Selwyn address, she noted, brings Orrman’s closer to steady foot traffic and nearby restaurants, and shifts the core audience from downtown workers and market wanderers to neighborhood residents looking for a single wedge of cheese, a board to share or a quick sit-down bite.
The Market at 7th Street has long been Orrman’s home base, and the owners have cast the move as a continuation of what they built there rather than an abrupt break. As the Myers Park storefront gets ready to open its doors, Orrman’s is sharing updates on hours, events and offerings through its website and social channels.
