Bruno Mars is getting the kind of Las Vegas welcome usually reserved for heavyweight champs and casino whales, with a midday Las Vegas Strip parade and a street-renaming ceremony set just before his tour kickoff this Friday. The procession, expected to draw big crowds, will roll down the Strip and wrap with an on-stage celebration at Toshiba Plaza near T-Mobile Arena. As part of the tribute, Park Avenue will officially be rechristened Bruno Mars Drive.
Representatives for MGM Resorts confirmed the Park Avenue name change to the Las Vegas Review‑Journal, which reports that the short stretch between Park MGM and T-Mobile Arena will carry the Bruno Mars Drive designation. The festivities are timed to the opening weekend of Mars’ The Romantic Tour, and Allegiant Stadium lists his Las Vegas dates that same weekend. Organizers and venue partners describe the event as a fan-facing launch party for the larger stadium run.
Parade route and timing
The procession will start on the north side of the Bellagio on Las Vegas Boulevard, travel past the Fountains of Bellagio, The Cosmopolitan, ARIA and Park MGM, and is scheduled to arrive at Toshiba Plaza in front of T-Mobile Arena around 1:30 p.m. Toshiba Plaza will open to fans at 11 a.m., and organizers say the plaza will close once it hits capacity. Road closures are expected from about 12:15 p.m. to 3 p.m. on southbound Las Vegas Boulevard between Flamingo Road and Park Avenue, with nearby connectors also affected. Fans are being told to plan for limited parking and security screenings, and organizers have banned glass containers, coolers, backpacks, strollers, chairs and weapons, according to FOX5.
Why the honor
Bruno Mars has a long-running relationship with Las Vegas venues, including a residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM, and MGM along with local outlets have framed the street rename as a nod to that history. The Las Vegas Review‑Journal has also confirmed MGM’s role in pushing the name change. While the ceremony is designed as a marquee moment for fans, venue officials say it is also meant to help drive foot traffic on and around the Strip during the tour’s opening weekend.
Attendees should expect large crowds and early lines if they plan to watch from the Strip. Organizers recommend using nearby resorts' parking garages and arriving ahead of time to stake out a viewing spot. City and venue partners have reiterated that Toshiba Plaza will close once it is full and that some traffic restrictions may remain in place while the crowd clears out.
