Denver police are asking for the public’s help to track down a man accused of sexually assaulting a passenger on an RTD light-rail train as it pulled away from Perry Street station on Saturday, March 21. Investigators say the attack happened on a W Line train headed toward downtown Denver, and they have released photos and a detailed description of the suspect.
According to KDVR, police describe the suspect as a Black male roughly 30 to 50 years old, with short hair and a thin build. He was last seen wearing a green and white sweatshirt with an "Aero 87" logo, jeans, and a black or blue baseball cap. KDVR reports that Metro Denver Crime Stoppers provided the photos that investigators circulated. Detectives say no arrest has been made and the case remains under active investigation.
How to Help
Anyone with information, footage, or tips is urged to contact Denver Police or Metro Denver Crime Stoppers. Tips can be submitted anonymously by calling 720-913-STOP (7867) or through the Metro Denver Crime Stoppers website. Metro Denver Crime Stoppers says tipsters may be eligible for a cash reward and will remain anonymous. Police are specifically asking riders who were on the train or near Perry Street station that night to check their phones for photos or video and to come forward if they recognize the person in the released images.
Transit Safety and Response
RTD has expanded transit-police resources and safety measures in recent years, including adding K-9 units, more frequent fare checks, and the creation of an internal detective bureau to investigate crimes on agency property, according to RTD and other industry reporting. Mass Transit reported that the RTD detective bureau became operational in 2025, which gave RTD-PD the ability to lead investigations involving the system instead of relying only on outside agencies. Transit officials have said these steps are intended to improve response times and victim services across the district.
Investigators stress that this case is still active and that any tip, video, or witness account could help identify the suspect and prevent additional assaults. Denver police and RTD-PD have not announced any charges as of the latest public reporting and say they will release more information as the investigation moves forward.
