A Sunday night on W Palmetto Street ended in deadly gunfire in Tampa, leaving one man dead and police scrambling for answers.
Officers were called shortly before 8:15 p.m. on April 19 to the 2100 block of W Palmetto Street, where they found an adult male with a gunshot wound, according to the City of Tampa. He was rushed to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries and died early Monday morning.
The Tampa Police Department is treating the case as a homicide. Detectives are working to unravel what led up to the shooting and are zeroing in on anyone who might have seen or recorded anything in the area.
As reported by the Tampa Free Press, investigators have not released the victim’s name or any description of possible suspects. Reporter Liz Shultz noted that detectives are piecing together witness accounts and on-scene evidence as the probe continues.
What investigators are asking for
Investigators say they want to hear from anyone who was in the area when the shots were fired, no matter how minor the detail might seem. They are also asking for any video from the neighborhood around the time of the shooting to help establish a clearer timeline.
Officials emphasized that even short clips can help identify movements and vehicles connected to the case. In other words, if your doorbell camera, dashcam, or cell phone caught something odd on Sunday night, police want to see it.
