An armed robber hit the Highland Park 7-Eleven at 16th SW and SW Holden early Monday, prompting a block-by-block search as Seattle police fanned out across the neighborhood. Officers said the suspect ran off on foot with an unspecified amount of cash, and no injuries were reported.
Police description and search
According to the West Seattle Blog, officers on the Southwest Precinct radio described the suspect as a Black man in his 20s, about 5-foot-8 with a heavy build. He was reported to be wearing a beanie, a black, white, and blue jacket, black pants, and black-and-white shoes. Police said he was armed and was last seen running westbound.
The report noted that a K-9 team was being called to the scene, and neighbors in Highland Park were told they might hear siren chirps or PA announcements as officers checked nearby streets and alleys. The Highland Park store is listed by 7-Eleven at 1600 SW Holden.
Part of a recent pattern
Local outlets and police say the Highland Park holdup fits a broader pattern of late-night convenience store robberies in West Seattle this spring. As reported in a recent story on twin 7-Eleven stickups, investigators have been looking into several holdups on SW Holden and surrounding corridors and are checking for possible connections between cases. That pattern has prompted extra patrols in some neighborhoods and continued follow-up by robbery detectives.
