A tense Sunday in West Baltimore ended with relief after police located 3-year-old Johnson Roman, who had been reported taken while playing in a city park. Authorities say the boy was found safe, and officers later arrested his mother and charged her with abduction. The initial call for help came in shortly before 2 p.m., triggering an active police response.
Police: Boy Located, Mother Arrested
The Baltimore Police Department announced that officers had found 3-year-old Johnson Roman and that his mother was taken into custody and charged with abduction, according to WBAL. Police shared the update on Monday, following what they described as an hours-long search over the weekend.
How Investigators Say It Unfolded
Officers were called to the 1900 block of Eagle Drive shortly before 2 p.m. Sunday for a report of a parental abduction. The boy's father told investigators that Johnson had been playing in Leakin Park when his mother took him to her vehicle, according to WMAR2 News. Initial reporting identified the mother as Enurah Isis.
Police Ask Public To Help Connect Dots
Baltimore police urged anyone with information to contact the Northwest District at 410-396-2466 or call 911. Before the boy was found, authorities had also asked residents to be on the lookout for a white Chevy Impala or Malibu, WBAL reported.
Leakin Park’s Size Adds To Search Challenges
Leakin Park, along with the adjoining Gwynns Falls greenway, makes up one of Baltimore's largest wooded park areas, with roughly 1,000 acres, according to the Friends of Gwynns Falls/Leakin Park. That kind of footprint, along with a web of trails, can complicate search efforts. Parts of the park are maintained with help from volunteer groups.
Case Still Active As Detectives Seek More Info
Police have not released a possible motive or additional details about the arrest, and the investigation remains active. Authorities are asking anyone who may have photos, video or other information connected to the incident to contact detectives, local reporting said, as WMAR reported.
