Two men muscled their way into an occupied Beverly Grove home late Sunday night, leaving a nanny and two young children badly shaken but physically unharmed. Surveillance footage shows at least one suspect climbing through a kitchen window while people were inside. Neighbors say the pair fled in a newer-model white Kia, and despite the scare, police say nothing was taken.
What investigators say
The Los Angeles Police Department says officers were called to the area around 10:45 p.m. and are searching for two males seen on surveillance video wearing black hooded sweatshirts, according to KTLA. The outlet reports a nanny and two small children were in the house when a suspect entered through a kitchen window, and a neighbor later chased the getaway vehicle into Studio City and photographed its license plate even after being sprayed with an irritant. Officers told reporters no property was taken and investigators had not immediately linked the break-in to a similar incident earlier in the week.
Neighbors and local pattern
The scare comes after other high-profile overnight break-ins on the Westside this year, including a February mansion raid in Beverly Grove that left one suspect in custody. Residents say they are increasingly turning to cameras and neighborhood shares to get license plate photos into investigators' hands after several late-night hits.
Broader enforcement context
Similar "hot prowl" intrusions, when suspects enter homes while they may be occupied, have been documented across Los Angeles this spring, including a violent Hollywood Hills case that left a woman hospitalized, NBC Los Angeles reported. Police and community groups continue to urge residents to secure windows and doors and to report suspicious vehicles or activity promptly.
Anyone with information or footage related to the Beverly Grove break-in is asked to contact the LAPD Wilshire Division or call 911 in an emergency. For non-emergency tips, the Wilshire station contact page is available at LAPD Wilshire.
