Detectives with the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office say a recent string of robberies and home burglaries across the San Antonio area has led to three arrests, along with the recovery of firearms and a stash of stolen property. Investigators report that the cases came together after they compared surveillance footage and vehicle descriptions that appeared to link several crime scenes.
The sheriff’s office identified the suspects as 18-year-old Deandre Holmes, 19-year-old Daivior Jones and 22-year-old Christian Pillow. According to investigators, Holmes was detained after deputies tracked down a vehicle tied to a burglary in the 13100 block of Watson Road, where they say he was found with a stolen firearm and other items. Jones was arrested on April 14 at a home in the 12300 block of Southwest Loop 410, where deputies report finding more stolen property and another firearm. Pillow was taken into custody on May 27 at a residence in the 8400 block of Maple Ridge. Those details were reported by News 4 San Antonio.
How investigators say the cases were connected
Deputies say the incidents were tied together through a familiar pattern. They point to similar methods of operation at the scenes and surveillance that captured a suspected getaway vehicle leaving one location, a vehicle they later recovered. Regional law enforcement agencies have been tracking coordinated theft crews and smash-and-grab style burglaries in recent weeks, which has prompted multi-agency responses across nearby jurisdictions.
In a related development, authorities have also been looking into a separate run of outlet-mall break-ins that they say involved organized groups operating across city and county lines, coverage that appeared in the San Antonio Express-News.
Charges outlined by deputies
According to the sheriff’s office, Holmes faces charges of burglary of a habitation with intent to commit another felony, aggravated robbery, theft of a firearm and engaging in organized criminal activity. Jones faces burglary of a habitation with intent to commit another felony and engaging in organized criminal activity. Pillow is charged with aggravated robbery and engaging in organized criminal activity. Investigators told News 4 San Antonio that these allegations are based on initial arrest reports and will be reviewed by prosecutors as the case moves forward.
Legal notes
Under Texas law, aggravated robbery, which generally involves a deadly weapon or serious bodily injury, is charged under Penal Code §29.03. Engaging in organized criminal activity is prosecuted under Chapter 71 and can carry penalties up to a first-degree felony, depending on the conduct alleged. Any eventual sentence would depend on the exact charges and a defendant’s criminal history, and it is up to prosecutors to decide which statutes to pursue after reviewing all evidence.
Full statute text is available in the Texas Penal Code at Texas Penal Code §29.03 and Chapter 71.
