Chipotle is looking to double its presence in both Delaware and Marysville, with plans on the table for second locations in each city that would push the fast-casual giant deeper into the northwest Columbus suburbs. In Delaware, the restaurant would slot into a larger commercial project on the north side of Sunbury Road. In Marysville, the chain is eyeing a standalone outparcel near existing retail, with that proposal headed to the city's Design Review Board on Wednesday.

Plans reviewed by city officials show the Delaware site divided between a roughly 2,380-square-foot Chipotle and a separate 6,900-square-foot building that could hold two additional restaurant spaces plus a medical office, all sharing 79 parking spaces. Vehicles would not be allowed to enter the development directly from Sunbury Road. Instead, an internal private access drive would connect the new lots to Sky View Lane and Biltmore Drive. Delaware City Council is slated to take up the development on first reading June 8, according to the Columbus Dispatch.

Rezoning Cleared For Trailhead Crossing

The project grows out of a rezoning that converted about 10.3 acres along Sunbury Road into a commercial planned unit development, according to city notices. That zoning shift opened the door for the Trailhead Crossing concept plan that is now working through final approvals, per the City of Delaware.

Marysville Site And Upcoming Review

In Marysville, the proposed 2,395-square-foot Chipotle would land at 1179 W. Fifth St., next to a Wendy's and near a Kroger. Plans call for a dedicated digital pick-up window geared to online and mobile orders. The application is scheduled to go before the Marysville Design Review Board on Wednesday, according to the city's Marysville meeting calendar.

Second Stores For Both Cities

If approved and built, the projects would give each city its second Chipotle. Delaware already has a restaurant at 1710 Columbus Pike, and Marysville has one on Delaware Avenue, according to Chipotle and Chipotle store listings. The additions would extend the chain's steady push into suburban retail centers around Columbus and add more pickup capacity for digital orders.

What Comes Next

Developers still need to secure final site-plan approvals and complete any required traffic studies before shovels hit the ground. Neighbors can expect more chances to weigh in at upcoming council and board hearings. Planning documents show an internal private access road planned to link the new Delaware lots between Sky View Lane and Biltmore Drive, a detail noted in city materials and the Trailhead Crossing exhibit. According to the City of Delaware and local reporting, both projects will move forward only after those procedural steps are finished.
