Central Avenue just picked up a new habit. Crazy Burger quietly flicked on the lights this week, serving smashburger-style sandwiches alongside Yemeni coffee and spiced teas in a soft-opening stretch. Breakfast starts at 8 a.m., a grand opening is in the works, and the tight menu is clearly built to catch both the early commute crowd and the late-night burger run.
According to Charlotte Observer, owner Salah Dafalla has opened the shop in a soft-opening phase. The paper notes that the namesake “crazy burgers” come as single, double or triple patties, priced at $9.99, $11.99 and $14.99, with a Crazy Butter Melt at $11.99. There are $2 upgrades that include onion rings, cheese sticks, avocado and grilled onions, plus combo add-ons of fries and a canned soda starting at $4. Pickup and delivery are already live through Grubhub, and Yemeni drinks round out the offerings.
Yemeni-style coffee is not exactly a stranger on this stretch of road. Shops such as Haraz have already drawn steady lines and expanded to additional locations over the past few years, as Axios Charlotte reports. Those cafes helped build a neighborhood taste for cardamom-forward, spiced coffee and tea, which Crazy Burger is now tapping into by pouring traditional brews next to its burgers. It fits neatly into a broader Charlotte trend of fast-casual spots blending global flavors while chasing both daytime traffic and evening regulars.
Menu highlights
On the breakfast side, the menu leans on egg-and-cheese sandwiches with a choice of bacon, sausage, turkey sausage or turkey bacon, served on a roll, bagel or hoagie. There are also breakfast platters that come with home fries or eggs and sausage. Smashburgers sit at the center of the savory lineup, and early pricing and portions are aimed at keeping things approachable for repeat visits. The shop is still in its soft-opening period but is already taking pickup and delivery orders.
Where to find it
Crazy Burger is tucked into the Plaza Central shopping center at 4808 Central Ave., Suite H, in east Charlotte. Waze lists the plaza at that address, and Charlotte Observer reports that the shop remains in a soft-opening phase with a grand opening planned. For now, expect a compact counter-style setup for ordering rather than a full-service dining room.
Why Central Avenue should care
On a street already known for international coffee and late-night eats, Crazy Burger’s mix of smashburgers and Yemeni coffee is positioned to catch shoppers, shift workers and night owls who want something a little different. By opening early for breakfast and leaning on both pickup and delivery, the spot is trying to stay busy throughout the day instead of banking on a single rush. Whether this particular burger-and-cardamom pairing becomes a staple will likely come down to consistency in the kitchen and whether Central Avenue’s current thirst for traditional, spiced coffees keeps holding strong.
