Death & Co. is finally making its Seattle move, locking in an opening date for its first local outpost in the RailSpur micro-district in Pioneer Square. The nationally known cocktail bar is headed for a ground-floor space at 419 Occidental Avenue, arriving just as the neighborhood's dining scene gears up for a busy summer.
According to the Puget Sound Business Journal, the Seattle bar will occupy a ground-floor unit within the RailSpur complex. The outlet notes that Death & Co. is part of a broader mix of new restaurants and a boutique hotel planned for the development.
Where it'll be
RailSpur's own materials place Death & Co. at 419 Occidental Ave., tucked inside a restored brick-and-timber warehouse designed for retail, dining and activated alleyways. RailSpur markets the block as a cultural hub that blends offices, hospitality and public programming, aiming to turn the historic stretch into a day-to-night destination.
Joining Renee Erickson's rollout
The new Death & Co. will share the block with three Sea Creatures concepts from James Beard Award-winning chef Renee Erickson, part of a recent rollout that brought Lowlander Brewery, Un Po Tipsy pizzeria and Mio Oh Mio to RailSpur. Sip Magazine and other local outlets reported on Erickson's trio of openings late last year.
What to expect inside
Death & Co. has built its reputation on polished interiors, including a white marble bar and underlit liquor steps, and reporting indicates the Seattle location will adapt those recognizable design elements for Pioneer Square. Axios and others have previewed early design and menu details, while local coverage notes that this will be the brand's fifth U.S. location. FOX 13 Seattle has highlighted the cocktail bar's other major-city outposts.
Why it matters for Pioneer Square
Developers and neighborhood backers say RailSpur's blend of hotel, office and restaurant space is meant to pull more people into the stadium corridor, where vacancies have lingered. The Seattle Times has followed RailSpur and the Populus/Hotel Westland projects as part of a broader effort to revive downtown activity.
Death & Co. has not yet released full reservation details or a Seattle menu, and the bar's national team and the developer say more information will land closer to opening. For the latest updates, they point guests to RailSpur and to Death & Co.'s social channels.
