La Rue Doughnuts, the chef-owned darling that turned crullers into a full-on obsession, is heading to Frisco this summer with a second location. Owners Amy and Casey La Rue say the new spot will be a compact counter setup with a few outdoor tables and the same rotating, chef-driven doughnut lineup that has been flooding their Trinity Groves shop with regulars. For fans used to trekking into West Dallas at sunrise, this move should cut the drive time considerably. It is a cautious but confident expansion for the couple, who pivoted to baking after shuttering their fine-dining restaurant.
As reported by CultureMap Dallas, the Frisco outpost will land at 4747 4th Army Dr., tucked into a small strip center off Lebanon Road between Legacy Ranch and West Side Market. According to CultureMap, La Rue Doughnuts is moving into the space previously occupied by Mava's Kitchen and is eyeing an early-summer opening. “It will be similar to our location at Trinity Groves, with a counter and a few outdoor tables,” Casey La Rue told CultureMap.
Chef-led pivot from Carte Blanche
The La Rues launched La Rue Doughnuts after closing their award-winning Carte Blanche on Greenville Avenue, shifting their energy to pastry and doughnuts. The new concept debuted at Trinity Groves in 2024. The Dallas Observer reported that the Trinity Groves counter drew long lines and quickly sold out on opening day. That early rush cemented La Rue’s cult status for crullers and chef-driven brioche doughnuts.
What they'll sell
On the menu, Frisco customers can expect brioche doughnuts, cake doughnuts, and the signature crullers, along with croissants and a growing range of savory pastries such as kolaches and filled brioche pockets. Coverage from Axios Dallas highlights the rotating monthly menus and limited runs that help fuel the intense demand. The couple’s fine-dining background shows up in the savory fillings and seasonal flavor pairings they roll out.
Why Frisco?
Casey told CultureMap Dallas that opening in Frisco feels like “becoming part of a community that's already been supporting us,” pointing to the dense nearby neighborhoods and the close proximity to BF Phillips Community Park. “People can get doughnuts, go to the dog park, best day ever,” he joked to CultureMap, summing up why the location checked all the boxes. The move fits the couple’s playbook of placing small, neighborhood-focused counters right where demand is already baked in.
When to go
La Rue is targeting an early-summer opening and is expected to announce a firm date on the shop’s social channels. The strip center at 4747 4th Army Dr. has seen several local tenants over the years, and previously listed Mava's Kitchen at that address.
