Where It Happened
The 1200 block of Weldon Avenue sits in a residential pocket of east Charlotte, just below The Plaza shopping area and near Eastway Drive. Neighbors in this part of the city have seen more than their share of late-night violence in recent months, with several overnight shootings adding to concerns about safety. One recent example involved another overnight shooting on East W.T. Harris that investigators have been tracking.
Police Response
CMPD says detectives are still working to piece together what led up to the shooting on Weldon Avenue and who is responsible. As of Friday morning, there had been no announcement of any arrests or suspect information, according to The Charlotte Observer. Officers are urging anyone who might have surveillance video, phone footage, or firsthand information from the area around 2 a.m. to contact investigators.
