A pre-dawn shooting in Charlotte’s NoDa arts district early Thursday left at least one person dead and another with life-threatening injuries, rattling a neighborhood better known for murals and music than crime-scene tape.
The gunfire broke out in the 3200 block of North Davidson Street near East 35th Street, drawing a heavy response from police and medic units. Emergency crews transported at least one victim to Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center.
According to Queen City News, initial calls about the incident began coming in around 2 a.m., and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police later confirmed detectives are treating the case as a homicide. The outlet reports that authorities have released only limited information while investigators work the scene.

NoDa Neighborhood Context
NoDa, Charlotte’s arts-and-nightlife strip along North Davidson, has seen violent incidents before, even as it markets itself as a creative hot spot. Local coverage has repeatedly shown detectives turning to the public for help after serious crimes there.
For example, WCCB reported a homicide near the neighborhood in June 2025 that also led police to issue a broad public plea for tips and camera footage, a pattern CMPD is echoing again with this latest case.
Anyone with information or video related to Thursday’s shooting is asked to contact detectives at 704-432-8477 or call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600, per the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. This story will be updated as CMPD releases more information.
