A domestic disturbance call on Abbeyville Road turned into a violent crime scene late Sunday, with Medina police saying a 26-year-old man was found with an apparent gunshot wound to the head and a local woman now facing a serious felony charge.
Officers were dispatched around 9:33 p.m. to the 200 block of Abbeyville Road on a reported domestic dispute. When they arrived, they found the injured man and immediately began providing medical aid alongside bystanders until Medina Life Support crews took over and transported him to a hospital. Authorities have not released any further details about his condition.
What Police Say
Medina police identified the suspect as 26-year-old Faith Thrasher and said she has been charged with felonious assault, a second-degree felony. Detectives processed evidence inside the home and interviewed witnesses and Thrasher as part of an active investigation, and officials said additional charges could be presented to a Medina County grand jury.
According to WKYC, early details about the incident first appeared in a brief Facebook update from the department.
Felonious Assault Under Ohio Law
Under Ohio law, felonious assault (R.C. 2903.11) covers knowingly causing serious physical harm to another person or causing harm by using a deadly weapon. The offense is generally charged as a second-degree felony. A conviction can lead to multi-year prison terms and other penalties, depending on the circumstances of the case and the defendant's prior record. For the statutory language and sentencing framework, see the Ohio Revised Code.
Investigation and Next Steps
Medina detectives say they collected evidence at the scene and spoke with witnesses as they continue to piece together what led up to the shooting. Officers and bystanders rendered aid at the home until medical teams arrived, and the case remains under active investigation.
Prosecutors are expected to review the findings and may present additional charges to a Medina County grand jury, officials said. As reported by WKYC, police have released only limited information while detectives continue their work.
Authorities have asked anyone with information about the incident to contact investigators. No court dates had been announced at the time of the report, and police say they plan to provide updates as the case moves forward.
