A busy Friday night in Fells Point ended with a car lodged in the corner of Bunny's Buckets & Bubbles after police say a driver sped away from a traffic stop with a child in the back seat. A 6-year-old passenger was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, and officers arrested and booked the driver at the scene. Photos from the restaurant show a gaping hole in the brick facade, but there were no reports of serious injuries to customers or staff.

How police say it unfolded

Entertainment District officers say they first spotted the vehicle around 10:46 p.m. in the 700 block of Broadway, moving without its headlights on and attempting to park when they approached, according to WBAL-TV. Police say the driver told officers she was picking up an order for a food-delivery company, then suddenly took off when asked for her license and registration.

According to officers, the car slammed into two other vehicles before finally crashing into the corner of the restaurant. All three vehicles were later towed from the scene.

Damage, injuries and the restaurant's response

Police say the driver, a 24-year-old woman, tried to run after the crash but was quickly detained and taken to Central Booking. A building inspector was called to check the structural integrity at the corner of South Ann Street, per CBS Baltimore.

On Instagram, Bunny's Buckets & Bubbles reassured patrons that "Everyone is ok" and said inspectors found the building structurally sound aside from what they described as a "little hole" in the wall. The 6-year-old passenger was treated at a hospital for minor injuries, and officials have not yet released details on charges connected to the incident.

Nightlife patrols and street safety

The crash highlights why the department keeps high-visibility patrols in busy nightlife corridors, where officers zero in on traffic enforcement and quality-of-life issues. Hoodline has previously reported on Entertainment District patrols and downtown enforcement actions.

As Fells Point heads into the summer season, business owners and residents will be watching both the repairs at Bunny's and how aggressively street safety rules get enforced on those crowded weekend nights.
