A quiet Sunday morning in the Eastchester section of the Bronx turned into a crime scene when four men walked into a Shell gas station on Conner Street, pulled a gun on the clerk and emptied out the register and store safe. The group then took off in a gray Honda. Police say the 48-year-old employee was not injured, but the shop stayed closed for hours while investigators worked the scene.
Police response
Officers locked down the interior of the station for several hours as they canvassed the area and collected evidence. According to police, they are searching for four men who held the clerk at gunpoint before fleeing in a gray Honda. An employee told News 12 New York the robbers made off with nearly $900 from the register and safe. Authorities say the 48-year-old worker was not hurt.

Local impact
The temporary shutdown left nearby drivers without a convenient place to fuel up and put the business behind a police perimeter while officers processed the scene. Investigators have been canvassing neighboring businesses and checking any available surveillance footage to trace the suspects' path out of the area. As of now, no arrests have been announced.
Legal note
Under New York law, robbery committed with a weapon is charged as a felony, and displaying or using a firearm can bump the charge to a higher degree. The state's robbery offenses and their degrees are laid out in Article 160 of the Penal Law. For the full statutory language, see the New York State Senate.
