Pour Decisions Craft, the San Jose born cafe that pairs matcha and Vietnamese-style coffee with rotating local craft taps, is officially on its way to the Houston Heights this summer. The hybrid concept is set to bring its cream topped specialty drinks and draft beer to a family and dog friendly space that doubles as a daytime hangout and an events ready neighborhood corner.
Owner and founder Vince Cao said a mix of local interest and a promising partnership pushed the expansion. He told Community Impact he is “super excited to be entering Houston.” The Heights location is expected to open sometime this summer.
What They'll Pour
The menu is set to cover hand whisked organic Japanese matcha, Vietnamese and Ethiopian style coffee, and a lineup of specialty cream topped drinks that includes a peanut butter latte, ube cream coffee, strawberry lychee jasmine tea and pandan matcha. Noncaffeinated choices will feature blended ube coconut and strawberry lychee lemonade, according to Pour Decisions Craft. The company says it plans to serve coffee, matcha and craft beer all day.
Not A Bar, A Community Spot
Cao told Community Impact the Heights shop will pour beers from local microbreweries and could eventually add a few bottles of wine or a whiskey or two, but it “will never serve as a full bar.” The idea, he said, is a family, kid and dog friendly hangout, complete with the brand’s signature stair steps and a large patio geared toward events and pop ups. As of mid May, Cao noted the team is actively looking for bakery partners ahead of the planned summer debut.
Where It Fits In
The expansion lands amid a broader wave of experience driven openings across Houston that mix education, rotating taps and pop up food partner models. Recent coverage of new taprooms shows operators betting that neighborhoods will back concepts that work from daytime into the evening. Pour Decisions arrives with a small California footprint and lists its original San Jose location on its Pour Decisions Craft site.
Specifics on opening day, hiring and partnerships are expected to roll out as the buildout moves forward, and Cao has said the team plans to share updates publicly. For now, Heights residents can plan on another all day option where matcha, coffee and local beer share the same menu.
