A food service worker assigned to Matthew W. Gilbert Middle School in Jacksonville was arrested April 23 and charged with 11 counts of child sexual abuse material, authorities said. School officials and the worker’s employer say the alleged conduct happened off campus, and the district is cooperating with investigators.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office arrested 35-year-old Allen Michael Scott on April 23 after a three-year investigation that began in April 2023. According to Action News Jax, investigators served search warrants on Comcast and Google and uncovered hundreds of photos and videos that are now detailed in the arrest report.
School And Employer Response
Duval County Public Schools told reporters the worker was hired through Chartwells and had been employed at Matthew W. Gilbert Middle from April 2 to April 23. In a statement shared with Action News Jax, Chartwells said it has terminated the employee and that “the alleged criminal behavior occurred wholly outside of the workplace.”
How The Probe Unfolded
Investigators reportedly relied on records from internet and cloud providers to trace and analyze digital files, a process that can drag on as evidence is extracted, cataloged, and reviewed. Law enforcement and child-protection organizations say lengthy digital forensics and cyber tips are standard in these cases; see guidance from the FBI and resources at the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children for how leads move from online reports to local investigators.
Legal Next Steps
Scott faces 11 counts related to child sexual abuse material, according to the arrest report, and the case will proceed through Duval County’s court system. The allegations remain allegations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
District leaders and Chartwells say they are cooperating with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office while investigators continue to review evidence.
