Neighbors along Jennifer Drive woke up to a heavy police presence early Friday after Loveland officers moved in on an armed individual in a residential stretch near the 1000 block of Jennifer Drive and nearby Ida Drive. Residents closest to the scene were told to shelter in place while officers surrounded the area and negotiated with the subject. The advisory was lifted once the situation was brought under control, and police said the person was taken into custody and is expected to face criminal charges.
In a Facebook update, the Loveland Police Department said officers contained the scene and told people in the immediate area to stay indoors. In contrast, others were urged to steer clear and use alternate routes. The department emphasized that the response was focused on community safety and promised more details as they became available.
Subject taken into custody
According to the same update, the department reported that the “subject is in custody” after negotiators and responding units secured the area and resolved the incident. Police did not immediately release the suspect’s name or outline the exact charges that may be filed, noting that investigators would share additional information as the case moves forward.
How residents were alerted
Loveland Emergency Communications relies on the NoCo Alert system and department notifications to reach people quickly during situations that could lead to shelter-in-place or evacuation orders, according to the Loveland Police Department. Anyone with information or tips related to Friday’s incident was asked to contact the department’s tip line or Larimer County Crime Stoppers, which the city frequently lists in its news releases.
What comes next
Investigators will process the scene and submit potential charges to the Larimer County district attorney’s office, officials said. Police encouraged neighbors to keep an eye on official channels for further updates and to call authorities if they notice anything that might be connected to the case.
