Three people were hauled into custody early Wednesday after Pasco Sheriff's deputies say masked suspects were caught on home security cameras rummaging through vehicles in the Andros Lane area of Port Richey. The overnight footage shows at least two individuals slipping into pickup trucks, taking a firearm, and then trying door handles on other cars. No one was hurt, and investigators are still sorting through evidence pulled from the neighborhood.

Deputies were called around 3 a.m. after multiple reports of masked people moving through driveways on Andros Lane. Personal home cameras captured two males entering two trucks, taking a firearm, and attempting to get into other vehicles. The sheriff's K9 unit swept the area and found several discarded items that deputies believe were stolen. A Pasco Sheriff’s Office drone then picked up three people leaving the neighborhood and guided patrol units to them so deputies could move in and detain the group. The Pasco Sheriff's Office said the three suspects were arrested on a combined 13 counts of auto burglary and one count of armed burglary, with additional charges pending, according to Pasco Sheriff's Office.

How Deputies Zeroed In

Investigators credited quick calls from neighbors and a coordinated search that paired K9 tracking with drone footage overhead. As deputies canvassed the area, they recovered multiple items in the neighborhood that detectives believe are tied to the vehicle break-ins. Those items are now being matched against reports from victims. For residents who capture similar incidents on video, the Pasco Sheriff's Office keeps a voluntary security camera list to streamline cases; see the security camera registry.

What Neighbors Are Urged To Do

The agency is once again pushing residents to stick to their nightly checklist, urging people to “complete their #9pmroutine each night and remove valuables from cars, close windows, and lock doors,” a set of habits deputies say helps cut down on vehicle-targeted crime, according to Pasco Sheriff's Office. Deputies are also asking anyone with additional surveillance video or information to send it in to help return property and identify any other suspects. To report a crime in progress, call 911. For non-emergencies, the sheriff's office lists (727) 847-8102 and an online tip form for sending in information.
