A sprawling Arte Museum is gearing up to land at Orlando’s ICON Park, with groundbreaking expected in August and a late 2027 debut circled on the calendar. The roughly 30,000-square-foot digital art attraction is planned for the Universal Boulevard side of the complex and will be operated by Seoul-based design studio d’strict, which already runs Arte locations in Las Vegas and New York.
Plans, Location And Timing
Site plans reviewed by GrowthSpotter put the project on about 2.7 acres at the northeast corner of ICON Park along Universal Boulevard, with a 424 space expansion to the existing parking garage. The documents also show new retail shells, each roughly 7,323 to 9,687 square feet, ringing the museum footprint. Those filings indicate that final engineering documents are in and the team is edging into the permitting phase.
Who Is Behind The Build
In a media release, ICON Park said the Arte Museum will occupy about 30,000 square feet and is aiming for a late 2027 opening. The operator is billing Arte as a marquee anchor for the Universal Boulevard frontage, a high-profile slot in an already packed entertainment lineup.
What Visitors Can Expect Inside
d’strict says the Arte concept revolves around “Eternal Nature,” using large scale projection mapping, immersive soundscapes and curated scents across multiple rooms to create a full sensory journey. The company notes that each Arte Museum is customized to its host city, so the Orlando version is expected to remix the region’s natural scenery and cultural cues into its digital storytelling.
Design Team, Contractors And Permits
Plan documents obtained by GrowthSpotter list Huitt Zollars as the architect, Intertek PSI handling geotechnical work, McIntosh Associates as the final engineering firm and Dale & Company in charge of landscaping. Taken together with the parking expansion and new retail shown on the plans, those details suggest the project is shifting from paper and lease talks into real world construction prep.
Why ICON Park Is Leaning Into Sensory Attractions
The Arte Museum is one piece of a roughly 100,000 square foot expansion at ICON Park that also includes about 70,000 square feet of additional retail and new entertainment venues, a package the operator says will broaden what is on offer along International Drive. FOX 35 Orlando reported that ICON Park plans to position Arte alongside other draws, including a returning Blue Man Group residency, to help keep foot traffic flowing year round rather than just in peak tourist season.
Timeline And What To Watch Next
Filings point to an active summer on the site, with permitting and early site work expected ahead of a bigger ground work push in August and a grand opening penciled in for late 2027. Developers have not yet released a full list of tenants for the surrounding retail or a total project cost, so for now, permitting records and official ICON Park updates will be the key places to watch for the next round of details.
