SkinnyDipped's Dark Chocolate Coconut Almond Bites are being yanked from store shelves after a co-manufacturer flagged a possible peanut problem. Certain lots may contain undeclared peanuts, and the recall covers individually wrapped bite-size packages in multiple formats that were sold across the country. Officials warn that people with peanut allergies could face severe reactions if they eat the affected products, and customers are being told to bring recalled packs back for a full refund or reach out to the company directly.
Recall details and scope
According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Bazzini, LLC, the Allentown co-manufacturer used by SkinnyDipped, voluntarily recalled certain lots of SkinnyDipped Dark Chocolate Coconut Almond Bites on May 27, 2026, because of the possible presence of undeclared peanut allergen. The FDA notice lists multiple package sizes, including 4, 6, 10 and 50 count packs and 32 count shipper boxes, along with best by dates from Dec. 20 through Dec. 29, 2026, tied to a specific set of lot codes.
How the contamination was discovered
On its site, SkinnyDipped says the recall kicked off after a consumer reported finding peanut butter containing products inside individual wrappers in a 10 count package, even though peanuts are not an intended ingredient. The company states that its investigation points to a failure in the manufacturer's production and packaging processes, and that it is working with the co-manufacturer to determine how the error happened.
Where it was sold and retailer response
Retailers nationwide carried the affected bites, and some, including Wegmans, posted recall notices listing UPCs, lot codes and best by dates while offering full refunds. Food Safety News and other outlets reported that the recall was distributed nationwide and that some of the products were also handed out as complimentary samples.
Health risk and legal notes
The FDA warns that people with peanut allergies "run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction" if they eat the recalled products, and the notice says no illnesses or allergic reactions had been reported as of May 27, 2026. The recall is voluntary and is being conducted with the agency's knowledge. Consumers who experience an allergic reaction are urged to seek immediate medical care and to report incidents to local health authorities.
What to do if you have the product
If your package matches the listed lot codes or best by dates, return it to the place of purchase for a full refund, or contact SkinnyDipped at 1-866-957-9907 or [email protected] for help, in line with the company's recall page. For the complete list of affected UPCs, lot codes and packaging sizes, see SkinnyDipped's recall notice or the FDA posting.
Background
SkinnyDipped previously issued an allergen alert for undeclared peanuts in 2023, and advocacy groups such as FoodAllergy.org tracked that earlier action and note that cross-contact and packaging controls remain recurring challenges for the industry. Consumers with severe food allergies are urged to double-check ingredient statements and lot codes before eating packaged snacks that reference tree nuts or similar ingredients.
