Philadelphia rolled into Friday, May 1, 2026, under mostly clear skies and a crisp start, with temperatures hovering in the upper 40s just after dawn. Patchy frost is still in the mix for higher elevations, especially across the southern Poconos, and a Frost Advisory remains in effect for Carbon and Monroe counties through 8 a.m.
Today: Sunny Skies, Mild Finish
By this afternoon, it will feel much more like spring. Expect plenty of sun with a high near 67°F and a light west breeze around 5 mph. Clouds build back in later tonight as a weak low swings through the region, bringing a chance for spotty showers after 9 p.m. Lows dip back to the upper 40s, according to the National Weather Service.
Saturday: Most Showers Hug The Shore
An offshore low on Saturday tries to spread some moisture inland, but most of the light rain should cling to the New Jersey shoreline. Away from the coast, expect mostly cloudy skies with highs near 63°F. Forecasters are seeing a subtle shift in the low nudging a bit farther east, which limits inland rain chances and keeps any rainfall amounts minor - generally under one tenth of an inch where showers do materialize.
Sunday: Gusty, Dry Air And Fire Weather Concerns
Sunday turns breezy and noticeably drier as northwest winds pick up. Afternoon relative humidity will fall to around or below 30 percent, and gusts of 20 mph or higher are likely. That combination can quickly dry out vegetation and create an elevated fire-weather concern. Officials advise skipping open burning and using extra caution with grills and yard debris during the afternoon, per the National Weather Service.
Boaters And Commuters
Out on the water, seas this morning are running about 3-4 feet with conditions staying below small craft advisory levels today and tonight. Boaters can expect choppy but generally manageable conditions on Saturday as well, still below advisory criteria.
On land, most drives stay dry. In higher elevations, early commuters should watch for patchy frost on bridges and overpasses before 8 a.m. The evening commute could pick up a few slick spots if those late-day showers manage to develop.
Need To Know
Gardeners will want to cover tender plants until the frost advisory expires this morning. It is also a good idea to keep an umbrella within reach for the late-evening commute on Friday, just in case those spotty showers move through.
