Local Rules For Electric Scooters
As outlined by the City of Racine, the city adopts state traffic statutes for electric scooters and specifically bars their use on sidewalks and on roads where the posted speed limit is above 30 mph. The ordinance also sets licensing and parking requirements for commercial scooter operators and spells out penalties for violations.
Investigation Underway
Police have not yet released the victim's name, and no charges have been announced in connection with the crash. Investigators say they are reconstructing the scene and gathering evidence as the inquiry continues, and officials have told local outlets they will share more information as it becomes available.
