Seattle is stepping into Sunday with clear skies and a cool start at about 55°F at 5:40 a.m. on May 3, 2026, on what is shaping up to be one of the warmest days so far this spring. Sunshine will ramp up quickly, with the warmest stretch expected from late morning through mid-afternoon as inland neighborhoods climb into the upper 70s to near 80°F. If you have outdoor plans, you will want to aim for the morning or late afternoon and bring water and sunscreen.
Afternoon Highs And A Shot At Records
The National Weather Service is calling for highs near 80°F across Seattle on Sunday, with low to mid 80s possible farther inland, and forecasters note that a few May records could be challenged. Overnight lows are expected to stay mild in the mid 50s, and the office says a shallow marine layer will return Monday morning as onshore flow resumes, which will bring cooler conditions to the coast. No watches, warnings, or river flood concerns are in effect for the area, according to the National Weather Service Seattle/Tacoma.
Waterfront Chill Vs. Inland Toastiness
The biggest contrast will be between water-side neighborhoods and the interior. Areas right on the Sound and in West Seattle should feel a cooling sea breeze that keeps highs in the mid 70s, while inland spots and east-facing exposures push into the low 80s. Winds stay generally light at around 5 to 8 mph, then turn more onshore Monday, so ferry riders and evening runners should notice cooler air closer to the water. If you are out during peak sun, shaded routes and park trails are still your best friend.
Planning Your Warm Sunday
Today is a strong pick for patios, parks, and outdoor chores, as long as you time your more active tasks for the cooler parts of the day and remember the sunscreen. For more on how we got from gray skies to this warm stretch, revisit our April 28 update.
