A routine traffic stop in Seguin on Tuesday ended with a San Antonio woman in cuffs and deputies hauling off what they say was a sizable stash of methamphetamine.

Deputies with the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office reported recovering 254 grams of suspected meth, roughly a quarter of a kilogram, after pulling over a vehicle in the 200 block of Austin Street. Authorities identified the driver as 40-year-old Anna Vasquez of San Antonio and said the amount seized pointed to suspected distribution rather than personal use. Vasquez was taken to the Guadalupe County Jail on a charge of delivery of a controlled substance.

In a post on the official page of the Guadalupe County Sheriff's Office, deputies said the stop happened around 6:30 p.m. on Austin Street and that the meth was found inside the vehicle. Investigators said they believe the narcotics were being distributed throughout Guadalupe County.

Seizure, Charge And Booking

As reported by KSAT, deputies recovered 254 grams of methamphetamine from the vehicle and charged Vasquez with delivery of a controlled substance. Jail records cited by local reporters show she was booked into the Guadalupe County Jail with bond set at $50,000.

What The Law Says

Under the Texas Health and Safety Code, penalties for delivery of a Penalty Group 1 substance such as methamphetamine increase with the quantity involved. An offense involving 200 grams or more but less than 400 grams is a first-degree felony and carries a statutory punishment range of 10 to 99 years in prison and a fine of up to $100,000. Vasquez, like all defendants, is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.

Local Enforcement Context

Guadalupe County law enforcement has been ramping up multi-agency traffic enforcement along routes between New Braunfels and Seguin, which has led to dozens of stops and several arrests. A two-day crackdown earlier this month resulted in 115 traffic stops and at least one narcotics-related arrest, according to Seguin Today. Officials have tied that activity to other significant seizures in the Hill Country and said it reflects stepped-up patrols on major corridors.

Vasquez remains in custody, and court records and booking status can be checked through the Guadalupe County Sheriff's Office records portal. The sheriff’s office is asking anyone with information related to the case to contact investigators as the probe continues and prosecutors determine whether to pursue additional charges.
