An early morning argument on Shakespeare Avenue turned violent when a 31-year-old woman was hit in the head with a bottle just after 1:05 a.m. on Sunday, April 5, in front of 1258 Shakespeare Avenue in the Bronx, authorities said. Police reported that the attacker got into a verbal dispute with the woman before striking her, then took off running southbound on Shakespeare Avenue, leaving her injured and the case still under investigation.
According to NYPD Crime Stoppers, the department issued a "Wanted for an Assault" alert on April 30 asking for the public’s help in identifying the assailant and noted that a reward of up to $3,500 may be available for information that leads to an arrest and indictment. The bulletin describes the suspect only as an unidentified individual and directs anyone with details to call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS or, for Spanish speakers, 1-888-57-PISTA, or to submit tips online at crimestoppers.nypdonline.org.

City records list the 44th Precinct stationhouse at 1565 Townsend Avenue, and the command handles patrols and investigations in that section of the East Bronx, according to city documents.
