
A 26-year-old man was shot and killed Monday night in West Baltimore, turning a residential corner into a crime scene and adding another case to the city’s homicide ledger.
Police said officers responded around 10:00 p.m. to reports of gunfire near Westwood Avenue and Moreland Avenue. When they arrived, they found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Medics took him to a nearby hospital, where he later died.
The victim was identified as 26-year-old Deon Garner, who lived on the 5100 block of Nelson Avenue, according to WMAR2News. Officers were called after a report of shots fired and discovered Garner at the scene with several gunshot wounds before he was transported to the hospital.
A brief video of the aftermath aired on local television, and CBS News Baltimore reported that homicide detectives are now handling the investigation.

CBS News Baltimore notes that police have reported 37 homicides in Baltimore in 2026, compared to 46 at this point a year ago. The outlet also reports there have been roughly 105 non-fatal shootings so far this year, down slightly from 117 by the same time in 2025.
