Two people were found dead Wednesday night, May 6, after Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office officers responded to a reported battery at a home on Crossview Drive near San Pablo Parkway on the city’s Southside. Officers arrived at about 8:45 p.m. and located two people deceased inside the residence, and the agency has opened an active death investigation.
According to News4JAX, officers were initially dispatched to the property for a reported battery and discovered the two victims once they entered the home. JSO told reporters it does not believe there is anyone else connected to the incident and does not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public. Investigators are coordinating with the Medical Examiner’s Office and the State Attorney’s Office as the case moves forward.
Authorities Ask For Tips
JSO is asking anyone with information about what happened inside the Crossview Drive home to come forward. Tipsters can call the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office non-emergency line at 904-630-0500 or email [email protected]. Anonymous tips can be submitted through First Coast Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office website lists these reporting options and provides a directory for additional investigative contacts.
Police Activity Nearby Earlier Wednesday
Earlier the same evening, officers were already committed to a separate, hours-long barricade behind the Walmart at San Pablo Road and Atlantic Boulevard, where the sheriff’s office deployed significant resources and later reported an officer-involved shooting, as reported by Action News Jax. Authorities have not indicated any connection between that barricade and the death investigation on Crossview Drive.
Investigation Underway
Detectives from JSO’s homicide and crime scene units are working with the Medical Examiner and the State Attorney’s Office to determine the cause of death and whether any criminal charges may follow. The sheriff’s office has not released the names of the deceased while those steps continue. Officials are again urging anyone with information to contact the non-emergency line or reach out through First Coast Crime Stoppers. As noted by News4JAX, the investigation remains active, and JSO says updates will be released when details are confirmed.
