A St. Cloud police officer has been arrested on domestic battery charges and pulled off duty, according to the department. The officer, identified as Kyle Davis, joined the St. Cloud Police Department in 2023.
Police Statement
In a statement to WESH, the St. Cloud Police Department confirmed that Officer Kyle Davis was relieved of duty on Thursday following his arrest in a Brevard County neighborhood on domestic battery charges. The department said it has launched an internal investigation.
"All members of this department, no matter their rank or tenure, are held to high professional and personal standards," Police Chief Douglas Goerke said. Authorities did not release details about what led to the domestic battery charges.
Where It Happened
Police said only that the arrest occurred in a Brevard County neighborhood and did not provide additional specifics about the alleged incident or exact location. The St. Cloud Police Department itself is based at 4700 Neptune Road, according to the City of St. Cloud website.
Legal Context
In Florida, domestic battery charges sit on top of underlying offenses such as battery or assault when the accusation involves family or household members, and they can bring enhanced consequences depending on what conduct is alleged. State law defines domestic violence in Section 741.28 and addresses battery and felony battery in Chapter 784, which also includes a specific provision for domestic battery by strangulation. Those provisions are set out in the Florida Statutes.
What Comes Next
The criminal case will move forward through Brevard County authorities while the St. Cloud Police Department conducts its internal review at the same time. The city has not given a timeline for either process. This story will be updated as court records or additional official statements become available.
