Bazaar, the roving tasting series from chef Belal Kattan, is setting up shop downtown with a tight June residency at the Statler Hotel. The run covers 14 nights, seats only 22 guests per evening, and features five-to-seven-course tasting menus priced at $135 per person.
Kattan has built his name on intimate, invitation-only dinners that blend Levantine flavors with modern technique. In a profile earlier this year, D Magazine tracked his path from kitchen gigs across Dallas to the launch of Bazaar and noted how those pop-ups have turned him into a regular presence on the city’s dining circuit.
Statler Residency Details
According to The Dallas Morning News, Kattan will take over the Statler’s former Sauvage tasting room for dinners on June 5 and 6; June 10–13; June 17–20; and June 24–27. He told the paper the menu will change after the first six nights and said he is “not necessarily looking for a 5-year lease,” while adding he “couldn’t be more excited” to cook from a single kitchen for the month. The residency will feature chefs Joshua Zacharias and Brenda Perez, with cocktails and wine programmed by Max Dean and Daniel Ayala.
What To Expect From The Menu
Kattan’s cooking combines Syrian pantry staples, handmade pastas, and careful technique. Previous Bazaar menus have included dishes like ashta-filled agnolotti paired with bright, seasonal accompaniments. D Magazine described his style as rooted in market-driven produce and marked by a willingness to experiment with textures and fermented elements.
Booking And Details
Reservations for the Statler residency are available now through OpenTable, and seats are expected to disappear quickly. Kattan’s dinner last Monday at Quarter Acre sold out and served roughly 70 diners, according to The Dallas Morning News.
