A failed robbery on busy Williams Boulevard ended with a ditch crash in Algiers, a K‑9 search and several suspects in cuffs, according to Kenner police.

Investigators say multiple people were arrested after an attempted robbery last Wednesday in the 3300 block of Williams Boulevard led to a multi‑agency pursuit that crossed parish lines and wrapped up in New Orleans’ Algiers neighborhood. Detectives used camera technology to zero in on a gray Nissan Sentra with no license plate that was tied to the robbery attempt. The car was found the next day in the 3700 block of Williams Boulevard.

When officers moved in, they say the driver took off, leading police onto Interstate 10 east. The Sentra eventually crashed into a ditch in Algiers. Officers set up a perimeter, brought in K‑9 teams and, within about an hour, had one suspect in custody.

How the Investigation Unfolded

According to the Kenner Police Department, detectives established surveillance after the attempted robbery and pulled Flock camera footage that identified the gray Sentra as the suspect vehicle.

Once the car crashed in Algiers, officers say two occupants bailed out on foot while a third person stayed inside the vehicle. One of the fleeing suspects was arrested shortly afterward in the Algiers area. Police also executed a search warrant on the Sentra following the crash.

Who Was Arrested and the List of Charges

Kenner police identified 18‑year‑old Jashawn Randall as one of the suspects arrested. He was taken into custody after officers locked down the area and deployed K‑9 units, according to the department.

Randall was booked on counts of attempted simple robbery, simple battery, aggravated flight, resisting arrest and possession of a schedule II controlled dangerous substance identified as tapentadol. Police say additional charges are pending through the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office.

“This case reflects the determination and teamwork of the men and women of the Kenner Police Department,” Chief Keith Conley wrote in the department’s Kenner Police Department post.

Multi‑Agency Response and What Comes Next

Kenner police credited a long list of backup in bringing the case together, including Louisiana State Police, the Homeland Security Violent Crime Task Force, the New Orleans Police Department, Gretna Police and the Department of Public Safety, according to the department’s Facebook account.

Officers say they recovered a rifle from the suspect vehicle for evidentiary purposes. All of the suspects are described as residents of New Orleans. The investigation remains active, and anyone with information is urged to contact the Kenner Police Department tip line or visit the Kenner Police Department website for reporting options.

Legal Notes

The counts listed by Kenner police are allegations, and the arrested individuals are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in court. Additional charges are expected as detectives continue working with Orleans Parish authorities, and any filings will move forward through the normal prosecutorial process.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with video, tips or other information is asked to contact Kenner police or call 911.
