Bexar County sheriff’s detectives hauled in at least nine men Thursday afternoon in an undercover prostitution sting, booking each of them on solicitation charges. Jail logs show the arrests were processed in the mid‑afternoon hours, with the suspects taken to the county detention center as part of a broader push on vice operations in recent months.
Booking records list the arrested men as Abdul Ali Mohammad, 31; Shawn Blue, 33; Roger Galan, 64; Jose David Garcia, 72; Joseph Guevara, 29; Jay Anthony Hernandez, 20; Juan Rubio, 34; Nathan Thomas, 30; and Ernest Valdez Jr., 49, according to KSAT. All of the individuals listed were booked on solicitation charges, per that outlet’s review of the records.
County booking information shows the suspects were rounded up between about 2 p.m. and 5 p.m., according to the county’s jail activity reports. Authorities did not immediately provide specific locations for the operation when contacted, and the sheriff’s office had not issued a separate public statement on these arrests as of Thursday evening.
BCSO's undercover push
The latest sting fits into a steady run of enforcement by the sheriff’s Human Exploitation Unit and Organized Crime teams. In December, an undercover campaign dubbed "Operation: Police Navidad" led to more than 20 arrests, as previously reported by KSAT.
In April, a separate operation resulted in the arrests of five people, including a former Bexar County firefighter, coverage by the San Antonio Express-News noted. That report quoted Sheriff Javier Salazar warning, "Don’t come to San Antonio and (commit sex crimes), you’ll go to jail."
Legal note
Under Texas law, prostitution and solicitation offenses are generally treated as misdemeanors, with penalties that increase for repeat offenses or when minors are involved. The rules and possible enhancements are outlined in Chapter 43 of the Texas Penal Code, and any eventual sentences depend on the specific charges and circumstances in each case.
If you have information about these arrests or related activity, Bexar County officials direct residents to call county dispatch at 210-335-6000 or Crime Stoppers at 210-224-STOP, as listed on the county’s reporting page. This is a developing story, and this article will be updated as additional information is released.
