A quiet Groveland duplex turned into the scene of a pre-dawn drug raid when a multi-agency team hit a Blue Street address and, according to investigators, walked out with more than 30 grams of cocaine and crack, a firearm, and gear they say is used to weigh and package narcotics. The man at the center of the case, 39-year-old Corey P. Solomon, is charged with trafficking in cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia, and authorities say more arrests tied to the same investigation are on the way.

Multi-agency raid in Groveland

As reported by Inside Lake, detectives with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Bureau and the Groveland Police Department executed narcotics search warrants at 745 and 747 Blue St. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team secured the duplex, while detectives from Clermont, Eustis, Groveland and Leesburg searched both residences. Still images released by the sheriff’s office show an HDT robot rolling up to the property before the team moved in.

Trafficking thresholds under Florida law

Under Florida law, possession of 28 grams or more of cocaine can be charged as trafficking, a first-degree felony that carries mandatory minimum prison time and steep fines. The statute sets a three-year mandatory minimum sentence and a $50,000 fine for quantities of 28 grams or more but under 200 grams, with harsher penalties for larger amounts. Those thresholds and penalties are laid out in Florida Senate records for Florida Statute 893.135.

Evidence listed in the arrest affidavit

An arrest affidavit reviewed by Inside Lake states that detectives located approximately 19.2 grams of cocaine and 12.1 grams of crack cocaine hidden inside a bedroom identified as belonging to Solomon, for a combined weight of about 31.3 grams. Investigators also reported finding a digital scale with cocaine residue, a razor blade, mail addressed to Solomon and a firearm in the room. According to the affidavit, Solomon identified the bedroom as his and admitted using marijuana, cocaine and crack. SWAT team members entered the 747 unit shortly after 5 a.m., and Solomon was taken to the Lake County Jail without incident.

What happens next

Solomon’s trafficking charge will be evaluated by prosecutors as they decide how to proceed with formal filings, and the case will move through the county court system where a judge will set bail and a future court date. Authorities say additional arrests connected to the separate 745 unit are expected as detectives continue their probe and collect more evidence.

Local impact

Law enforcement officials described the Blue Street operation as a coordinated push to disrupt suspected drug distribution in the neighborhood and underscored the multi-jurisdictional cooperation involved. The sheriff’s office did not immediately release further comment beyond the items seized and arrests detailed in court documents.
