A late-night assault just off the Ocean City boardwalk has police asking anyone who was nearby to take a closer look at what they remember, and what might be on their phones. Investigators say a group of males attacked a victim in the 100 block of Wicomico Street at about 10:38 p.m. on June 12, and they are now trying to put names to faces.

How police describe the suspects

Detectives have released descriptions of five Black males, including details about clothing and hairstyles, in hopes someone recognizes them. According to the Ocean City Police Department, Suspect No. 1 was last seen wearing black pants, a black jacket, and a white undershirt. Suspect No. 2 had shoulder-length hair and was wearing a graphic T-shirt with black shorts that had white lettering, along with white socks and sneakers. Suspect No. 3 was described as having short hair and wearing a white T-shirt and blue shorts, as reported by WJLA.

Where police want tips

Police say Suspect No. 4 was seen with medium-length hair pulled up and was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, dark shorts, and sneakers. Suspect No. 5 was wearing a black Under Armour long-sleeve shirt and dark pants. Anyone who recognizes any of the individuals, or who has information that could move the case forward, is asked to contact PFC Stoltzfuz at [email protected] or 410-723-6610. Anonymous tips can be submitted by calling 410-520-5136, online, or by emailing [email protected]; tipsters are asked to reference case No. 2026-00-1733, as WMDT reports.

Why police are pressing for witnesses

Recent history is one reason investigators are pushing so hard for witnesses and video. Ocean City has seen violent incidents in prior summers, including a high-profile triple stabbing on the boardwalk in June 2022 that ended with a conviction and sentencing. The town’s official account notes that detectives leaned on surveillance footage, social media, and witness statements to zero in on a suspect. As outlined by the Town of Ocean City, detectives credited public tips and video in that probe.

The Ocean City Police Department says its investigation into the June 12 assault remains active and that anyone with information or video from the area should contact investigators. Tips can be given anonymously, and the department has reiterated the case number, 2026-00-1733, when asking for information, per WJLA.
