Milwaukee wakes up under clear skies and calm air on Thursday, June 4, 2026, with temperatures sitting near 59°F at General Mitchell International Airport. Inland neighborhoods will warm quickly, and a mostly sunny afternoon is on tap with a high near 86°F. Southwest winds will strengthen through the day, and dropping humidity will bump up the risk of elevated fire-weather conditions by late afternoon.
Afternoon Heat And Gusty Winds
By afternoon, it will feel plenty toasty, especially away from the lake. Southwest winds around 5 to 15 mph, with stronger gusts, could make outdoor work and yard projects feel hotter than the thermometer suggests. With dew points in the 40s and relative humidity falling into the mid 20s to 30s, yard debris or open burns can spread more easily than on a typical summer day.
The National Weather Service has the full forecast and advisories for Milwaukee, including a Small Craft Advisory for nearshore Lake Michigan waters from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday, June 4.
Tonight Into Friday
A slight chance of spotty showers moves in late Thursday night, but the main show holds off until Friday, June 5, as a warmer and more humid airmass pushes north. Showers and thunderstorms are likely Friday, with a high near 82°F and locally heavy downpours. Some locations could see one half to three quarters of an inch of rain.
The National Weather Service notes a marginal severe-storm risk Friday into Friday night, with gusty winds and isolated hail as the primary concerns. In other words, most storms will be noisy rain makers, but a few could pack a punch.
Boaters, Events And Preparations
Boaters will want to time trips around the Small Craft Advisory this afternoon and evening and be ready for choppy nearshore conditions on Lake Michigan. Check the marine forecast before launching and keep an eye on the sky if you plan to stay out into Friday.
On land, avoid open-air burns this afternoon while fuels are dry, and have a backup plan ready for outdoor events on Friday in case storms roll in during game time, concert time, or grill time. Keeping phones charged and knowing where to head for shelter will help if lightning or sudden heavy rain develops.
We posted an earlier outlook on Monday, and this update adds new advisories and clearer timing for Friday’s storms. See our earlier post Cool Start, Steamy Finish for neighborhood-level context.
