Three teenagers were hurt in a violent brawl at a Bronx high school campus Thursday afternoon, with two stabbed and a third beaten during a chaotic scene that brought a heavy police and EMS response to Kingsbridge Heights. All three were taken to the hospital and are expected to recover, authorities said.
Officers were called to a large fight at 100 West Mosholu Parkway South just after 2:15 p.m., where a 19-year-old man was stabbed in the hip, a 17-year-old was stabbed in the abdomen and another 17-year-old suffered injuries to the face and body, according to News12 New York. Paramedics took all three teens to Jacobi Medical Center, which lists its address at 1400 Pelham Parkway South.
In a statement to News12 New York, the New York City Department of Education called the stabbing attack "a senseless act of violence." The agency said school staff and NYPD School Safety Agents "immediately responded" and that it is carrying out a full investigation with the NYPD.
Campus Details
The building at 100 West Mosholu Parkway South houses multiple high schools on a shared campus. DeWitt Clinton High School and Bronx Collaborative High School are both listed at that address on the NYC Department of Education site.
Neighborhood Context
Kingsbridge Heights has seen other violent incidents this year, a pattern that residents and local leaders have already flagged at community-safety meetings. Earlier in February, two teens were slashed and stabbed near a school in the neighborhood, as reported by Norwood News. CompStat minutes from Bronx Community Board 8 note multiple recent attacks in the area, and Bronx Community Board 8 discussed student-area violence during its March meeting.
What Officials Say
Authorities have not yet said whether the fight took place inside a school building, and the investigation remains ongoing. School leaders said they plan to communicate with families and review existing safety procedures as the inquiry continues.
