A San Antonio man is facing a felony charge after investigators say he went online to solicit sexually explicit photos from a child younger than 14, a case that started when family members checked the child’s phone and found disturbing messages.
According to News4SanAntonio, an arrest affidavit identifies the suspect as Cesar Andres Luna. The incident was reported on Feb. 14, after the child told a sibling about receiving a Valentine at school, which prompted the family to look at the phone. Investigators allege Luna asked the child for pictures of their private parts. While the message thread itself had been deleted, detectives reported that shared files between Luna and the victim were still visible and helped form the backbone of the case.
What Investigators Say They Found
The affidavit quotes the victim as saying that Luna asked them to send photos of their “private parts,” and investigators reported finding sexually explicit attachments in the recovered files, according to News4SanAntonio. Detectives leaned on mobile device forensic tools to pull back material the family thought was gone. Even when users delete message threads on a phone, forensic examinations and backups can often uncover remnants or copies of those communications, as outlined in NIST's guidelines on mobile forensics.
Legal Stakes Under Texas Law
In Texas, online solicitation of a minor is covered by Penal Code §33.021. The law targets sexually explicit communication and requests sent over electronic channels, and it increases the stakes when the alleged victim is under 14 years old. In those cases the offense can be filed as a second-degree felony. The statute also makes clear that prosecutors do not have to prove that a meeting ever took place in order to bring charges. Possible penalties include prison time and fines, as detailed in Texas Penal Code §33.021.
How This Fits Local Enforcement Efforts
The case lands in the middle of a broader spring crackdown on online predators in and around San Antonio. Local agencies have been running undercover operations that target adults who allegedly use the internet to reach out to children.
For example, Bexar County deputies announced a separate sting that led to an online solicitation arrest on May 22, 2026, according to KSAT. Earlier in May, another KSAT report highlighted a different arrest tied to similar investigations, underscoring how frequently these cases are hitting local dockets.
Luna now faces an online solicitation charge, and the case will move through the Bexar County court system. Booking details and a court date were not included in the initial report, so the timing of his next appearance in court is not yet publicly known.
