A 30-year-old woman is facing serious charges after deputies say she attacked a 60-year-old man with a knife inside a Village of Waukesha home early Thursday. The man suffered multiple injuries, was treated at a hospital, and survived. The suspect was arrested at the scene and is now in custody.
According to a criminal complaint cited by The Freeman, Waukesha County deputies were dispatched around 3:12 a.m. after a disconnected 911 call from a residence on Arcadian Avenue. When they arrived, they found the victim in the driveway bleeding and took a 30-year-old woman, identified in charging documents as Alissa Holm, into custody. The complaint charges Holm with attempted first-degree homicide, domestic abuse involving use of a dangerous weapon (substantial battery), and disorderly conduct. Cash bond was set at $250,000, and Holm faces up to 73 years in prison if convicted on all counts, the complaint states.
Scene and injuries
The complaint says Holm allegedly chased and attacked the man with a serrated kitchen knife about 10 to 12 inches long. Deputies later found the knife in a flower pot near the front door, according to The Freeman. The victim had numerous lacerations on both hands that required stitches, along with additional scratches and a bite mark on his left shoulder, the complaint says.
During the incident, Holm allegedly told the man, "I'll kill you, (expletive)," and later made similar spontaneous statements while at the hospital, according to the charging papers.
Charges, bond and next steps
Holm's case is scheduled to return to court on Wednesday, according to the complaint, and she remains held on the $250,000 cash bond. If formal charges continue as outlined in the complaint, the case will move forward through the Waukesha County Circuit Court system. Members of the public can monitor the county court calendar for scheduled hearings and filings.
Probation and statements
Court papers say Holm was on probation with a condition that she have no violent contact with the victim. She reportedly first denied that a knife was involved, but later described it as a serrated kitchen knife and told police she had two Miller High Life beers after being picked up from work. Deputies described her as glossy-eyed, slurring her words, and smelling of intoxicants, according to the complaint.
