A 26-year-old man who was ejected from his car in a two-vehicle crash on East Livingston Avenue on Tuesday has died from his injuries, according to Columbus police. Authorities identified the driver as Tywan Horton, who was taken to a hospital in critical condition and later pronounced dead.
As reported by NBC4, the collision happened on East Livingston Avenue near South Yearling Road in the Leawood neighborhood. Police say a 2007 Ford Fusion failed to stop at a traffic signal and struck the driver's side rear of a 2020 Ford Fusion. After the initial impact, the 2007 Fusion veered northeast, crossed into the westbound lanes, left the roadway, and slammed into a tree. The force of that second impact ejected Horton from the vehicle, causing the injuries that ultimately proved fatal. Investigators have not said whether speed, impairment, or other factors contributed to the crash.
