A warehouse fire sent a thick column of smoke over Houston’s East End on Monday evening, triggering a fast response from city fire crews and turning heads across the southeast side of town. Neighbors and drivers reported spotting the dark plume from well beyond the immediate area as units worked the scene.
According to Click2Houston, the Houston Fire Department responded to a reported warehouse blaze near the intersection of Manchester and Kellogg Street. Houston TranStar traffic cameras showed smoke billowing into the air, and the station reported that it was still unclear what type of warehouse was involved. The department told the station that no injuries had been reported at the scene.
East End’s Recent Run of Warehouse Blazes
The Houston Chronicle reported on a 2024 East End warehouse fire that killed a firefighter and later led to criminal charges. In April 2026, ABC13 covered a recycling-warehouse fire on Springer Street that sent heavy black smoke across southeast Houston but resulted in no reported injuries. Together, those incidents have added pressure on industrial property owners and sharpened scrutiny on fire preparedness in the area.
