As Salisbury approaches the second anniversary of a 10-year-old boy's killing, federal and state investigators are once again putting up reward money and publicly urging anyone with information to break the silence. Tyron Colbert Jr. was shot inside his family's Clay Street home on Aug. 5, 2024, and the case remains open with no arrests.
Authorities renew reward in unsolved case
In a recent news release, Maryland State Police said the FBI, the Maryland Department of State Police and Crime Solvers of the Eastern Shore are offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to an arrest and conviction. Investigators describe the renewed offer as part of ongoing efforts to crack the case and are pressing anyone who knows something, or even suspects they do, to come forward.
FBI poster lists separate amount
The FBI's Baltimore field office is keeping a "Seeking Information" poster active that lists a reward of up to $15,000 and directs tips to the Maryland State Police Salisbury Barrack at (410) 548-1776, according to the FBI. Local coverage and the state police announcement say the combined offer totals up to $25,000, per reporting from WMDT.
What investigators say happened that night
Officers were called to the 200 block of Clay Street around 10:30 p.m. on Aug. 5, 2024, after a 9-1-1 call and found Tyron suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He later died at a hospital, local reporting states. The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit is leading the investigation with help from the Salisbury Police Department, and officials say no suspect has been publicly identified, according to WBAL and the state police statement.
Detectives urge neighbors to search memories and footage
Investigators have told reporters they are working through video surveillance, phone records, and other leads, trying to connect any thread that might move the case. A state police commander urged residents to "keep your eyes and ears open" and share anything that could help. Officials emphasize that tips, no matter how minor they might seem, are reviewed and can become the missing piece in a larger puzzle, as noted by WMDT.
How to submit a tip
Anyone with information can call Crime Solvers of the Eastern Shore at 410-548-1776 or send an anonymous tip online to the FBI at tips.fbi.gov. Authorities say people who provide credible information may qualify for the reward if their tip results in an arrest and conviction, according to local and federal guidance.

Family members have described Tyron as an outgoing, energetic kid who loved football and video games and took pride in looking out for his younger siblings. His killing has left a deep and lingering hurt for relatives and neighbors as investigators keep pressing for the tip that could finally bring answers, Daily Voice reported.
