Felice made its Flatiron debut Thursday at the corner of Fifth Avenue and 26th Street, bringing the family-run Italian brand’s flagship to Manhattan with a bar-first mindset and a lineup of new cocktails. The dining room at 220 Fifth Avenue opens toward Madison Square Park, with high ceilings, a glowing wine wall and a marble bar that commands the room. In the kitchen, classic Tuscan pastas and shareable plates meet a bit of theater, thanks to tableside tiramisu carts and an interactive amaro station.
Inside the flagship
Felice now takes up residence at 220 Fifth Avenue, a 21-story neo-Gothic tower overlooking Madison Square Park, and the company is calling the Flatiron restaurant its most architecturally ambitious space to date. The design by Bonetti/Kozerski Architecture wraps the central bar in Grigio Versilia marble and Chianti terracotta, with a 30-foot illuminated wine wall climbing under ceilings that reach roughly 18 feet, according to PR Newswire. “We wanted the space to feel instantly familiar but elevated in every detail,” Enrico Bonetti said in the release, a line the restaurant points to as a guiding principle as Felice stretches beyond its neighborhood wine-bar roots.
What to drink
The drinks program leans hard into Italian aperitivo culture, with enough modern twists to keep a New York crowd entertained. The headline act is the Dirty Martini Spritz, finished with a lemon twist and an olive on a spear, while a Nightcap section highlights an Amaro Shakerato, a Limoncello Martini and an Affogato Martini, as reported by Time Out. By-the-glass pours favor small producers, including a “Back to Natural” list of low-intervention bottles meant to play nicely with pasta and small plates.
Menu and moments
The Flatiron menu stays grounded in a Tuscan approach, with signature pastas, pizzas and shareable plates like the Il Toscano - a rotating board of salumi, pecorino, olives and crostini - alongside starters such as tuna tartare and arancini, according to the announcement. The experiential touches, from those rolling tiramisu carts to the interactive amaro station, are designed to break up the meal and nudge guests to linger a bit longer. The brand also runs a fast-casual pasta counter at Time Out Market in Brooklyn, keeping Felice in the mix across different dining formats, per the press release via PR Newswire.
