Three separate shootings across Baltimore from late Thursday into the early hours of Friday left one man hospitalized and had officers racing between crime scenes in multiple neighborhoods. The incidents, which unfolded over roughly five hours, stretched across the city’s southeast, east, and western districts as detectives and crime lab technicians worked the scenes into the morning.
According to Fox Baltimore, the first shooting was reported around 7:50 p.m. Thursday in the 400 block of Montford Street, where officers found a 61-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Just before 9:30 p.m., police were called to a corner store in the 1200 block of East Preston Street and taped off the sidewalk near the deli at East Preston Street and Harford Avenue while crime lab technicians documented the scene. Then, at about 12:50 a.m., Western District detectives established two separate crime scenes in the 2800 block of Elgin Avenue after finding evidence that multiple people had been struck by gunfire, including a car parked in a grassy area and clothing scattered in a nearby lot.
Police response and how to help
Baltimore police say they have opened investigations into each shooting but have not announced any arrests or identified suspects. The department asks anyone with information to contact the Homicide Section at 410-396-2100 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7LOCKUP, according to the Baltimore Police Department. For official updates, reporters and members of the public can reach the Media Relations Section at [email protected].
Where this fits in the city's trends
The overnight run of shootings comes as city officials and law enforcement leaders continue to point to a multi-year decline in lethal violence. Baltimore recorded 133 homicides in 2025, its lowest annual total in nearly 50 years, The Baltimore Sun reported. Officials have credited a combination of enforcement, prosecution, and community-based interventions for the drop, even as nonfatal shootings still hit neighborhoods across the city.
WBFF reported that it is working to gather additional information on the three shootings. Anyone who witnessed activity in the affected areas or has video or tips is urged to contact police and investigators, who continue to canvass the neighborhoods.
