The wait for Aga’s in Katy is just about over. Aga's, the packed Southwest Houston Indo-Pak restaurant famous for its grilled goat chops, is launching a takeout-only outpost in Katy on Wednesday, June 24. The new spot is built for speed, with a pickup-and-delivery model designed to feed fans who have been trekking to the Southwest Houston flagship for years, without adding any sit-down seating.

As reported by CultureMap Houston, the new outlet, called Aga’s To Go, will open inside The Shoppes at Grand Crossing at 102 W. Grand Parkway S., Suite 100. The Katy kitchen is set up for quick counter pickup and third-party delivery rather than table service, and CultureMap notes it will offer roughly 100 of the original location’s most popular dishes.

In a statement to CultureMap Houston, Zain Maredia, Aga’s head of growth and strategy, called the Katy move "a direct response to the growth of our business." He pointed out that Katy has long been one of Aga’s strongest customer bases and said the new outpost should make the restaurant’s food far more convenient for west Houston diners.

Buildout and footprint

The expansion followed permit filings with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, where the project is listed as an "Aga's Take-Out Restaurant" covering about 4,200 square feet with an estimated $350,000 buildout, according to the Houston Chronicle. The Chronicle also reports that owner Shaukat Maredia confirmed a family member will help manage the new location and noted that the flagship has been drawing especially long lines.

What they'll serve

The Katy kitchen is expected to turn out kababs, boti, biryani, curries, freshly baked breads and, of course, Aga’s signature grilled goat chops, all packaged in a pickup-friendly format. According to Aga's Restaurant, the menu follows 100% zabiha halal standards, and the brand already maintains a dedicated to-go menu for ordering and delivery.

Why Katy?

Operators point to the Grand Parkway and I-10 interchange as a natural growth corridor. The Shoppes at Grand Crossing sits in the middle of a growing cluster of Asian-focused retail and restaurants, making it a convenient stop for west Houston diners who do not want to cross town for a curry fix. Leasing details and local context, including the unit size and proximity to Katy Asiatown and a nearby Costco, are laid out by Covering Katy, which notes the new space sits alongside national tenants.

The Katy move comes as Aga’s grows both as a business and as a community presence. The Maredia family took over the restaurant in the early 2010s, and the brand now runs an expanding college scholarship program. The Houston Chronicle reports that Aga’s increased its scholarship pool to $125,000 this year, with $100,000 designated for 25 students. The flagship will remain the go-to for sit-down meals, while the Katy location is set to focus squarely on carryout and delivery.
