Hatboro police say a woman turned a local Wawa into the scene of an afternoon caper on Sunday, May 31, allegedly sending children into the store to walk out with unpaid online orders before driving off in a silver Nissan Versa.

According to officers, the theft happened around 3:05 p.m. at the Wawa on South York Road. Investigators say the juveniles left the store with items that had been ordered online but not paid for, then got back into the waiting car, which left the scene. Police have circulated a description of the driver and are asking anyone who might recognize her or the vehicle to come forward.

Police: Woman Directed Juveniles To Retrieve Orders

According to NBC10 Philadelphia, Hatboro police say the woman placed online orders and then had juveniles go inside to retrieve the unpaid items. Officers said Wawa employees reported seeing the same tactic used by the suspect before. Detectives say they are working to identify the driver and track down the vehicle seen leaving the store.

Not The First Odd Theft At This Wawa

This particular Wawa at 412 South York Road has already had a strange season. In April, two people were accused of walking off with about 96 bananas from the store, 6ABC/Action News reported. Police later said they identified those suspects after releasing photos, according to the station.

How To Help

Hatboro police are asking anyone with information about the woman or the silver Nissan Versa to contact Officer Suder at 215-675-2832, according to a department post on Crimewatch. The post also reminds residents that all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
