Deputies say a Thursday afternoon search of a home in the 9000 block of Hyatt Resort Drive turned up thousands of grams of marijuana, THC vapes and wax, two firearms and nearly $492,425 in cash. A woman was detained at the front door while the house was searched, then later booked, according to authorities. Investigators say the cache of concentrated THC products and neatly packaged doses highlights ongoing concerns in Bexar County about vape-linked street violence and large-scale distribution.
Search Warrant And Seizures
According to reporting from FOX San Antonio, deputies executed the warrant at about 4:20 p.m. on June 11. Inside, they reported finding roughly 5,768 grams of marijuana, which works out to about 12.7 pounds, along with 43 grams of THC wax and 197 grams of THC vape products. Deputies also seized an AR-15-style rifle, a 9mm Glock handgun and $492,425 in U.S. currency.
The station reports that the combination of cash on hand and packaged THC products led investigators to treat the operation as a narcotics distribution case rather than a simple possession situation. Booking and court filing details were not immediately available at the time of the initial report.
Who Was Arrested And What The Sheriff Said
Deputies say the woman detained at the front door was later identified as Danielle Gill. According to the sheriff’s office, she was arrested on a drug possession charge connected to the amounts found during the search.
“Over the years, many of our violent crimes, including homicides, can be traced back to confrontations over THC vape cartridges,” Sheriff Javier Salazar told FOX San Antonio. The sheriff’s office also urged residents to send in tips through the BCSO app or by emailing [email protected], as listed on the Bexar County Sheriff's Office public information page.
Bigger Trend: Vapes, Cash And Crackdowns
State lawmakers have been moving to tighten rules on disposable cannabinoid vapes, with new restrictions on certain vape products set to take effect in 2025 as part of a broader debate over how to regulate consumable hemp, according to reporting by The Texas Tribune.
Closer to home, Bexar County deputies have carried out several similar drug sweeps this spring and early summer that turned up pounds of marijuana and THC vape cartridges. Those cases illustrate why the sheriff’s office says it is putting extra attention on high-potency vape products. KSAT reported on a related operation in May.
Legal Exposure
Deputies reported seizing more than five pounds of marijuana, a quantity that falls into a tier under Texas law treated as a third-degree felony. That offense carries a possible two to ten year prison term under the Texas Health & Safety Code.
State law and common charging practices both note that factors such as large sums of cash, individually packaged doses and the presence of weapons are often cited by prosecutors when arguing for distribution or delivery charges. Those allegations can increase potential penalties beyond what a straight possession count would bring. The relevant possession tiers and penalties are outlined in the Texas Health & Safety Code.
The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office says the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the agency using the BCSO app or by emailing [email protected], in line with the county’s public information guidance. This story will be updated as court records and booking information become available.
